Open cooling towers

A 'special heat exchanger' where 2 matters (water &air) are brought in direct contact with each other to create a heat exchanging effect.
The heat is transferred by evaporation of a small quantity of water (approx. 1% of the circulation flow for each 5,5°C cooling)

Below, you will find the different types that we offer.

Marley NC - Crossflow

Highest Cooling Capacity per Cell (Compared to other leading manufacturers)

The NC offers the highest cooling capacity per cell and the highest ASHRAE 90.1 performance available - up to 9614 kW.

Independently validated sound data.

Marley towers are the only package of cooling towers tested per CTI ATC-128 test code by CTI licensed third parties and certified acoustic engineers. NC noise levels are independently verified to meet published noise levels.

Lowest Drift Rates.

Lower drift means less water escapes from the tower, resulting in a cleaner environment. The new patent-pending MarKey™ Eliminator achieves the lowest drift in a cross-flow cooling tower.

More vibration protection.

The new generation of mechanical and solid-state vibration switches ensure smoother start-up, safe operation and long life.

Cold water inlet covers.

The new optional SunShield™ inlet covers protect the cold water basin from sunlight and dirt, which can contribute to the growth of algae.

Since its introduction in 1968, the Marley NC cooling tower has set the standard for high efficiency and low maintenance. Our nearly 100 years of experience in cooling tower technology is leveraged to ensure the NC cooling tower you choose today offers the widest range of configurations and the highest cooling capacities available in a cooling tower package.

The Marley NC cooling tower, which is either fully assembled at the factory or installed on site, incorporates Marley components specifically designed for cooling towers with a proven tower design - a combination that has proven its effectiveness in thousands of cooling installations around the world.

Marley MD - Counterflow

The Marley MD is a factory-assembled, counterflow cooling tower. For many HVAC and light industrial applications, this design requires less planning space and offers greater installation flexibility than a comparable cross-flow cooling tower. A wider choice of cabinet sizes and more design options have expanded the range of the versatile MD product line. New selections with anti-fouling film-like fill expand the MD's applications to include high solids process water.

Back-to-back installation configurations for all models provide even more adaptability for on-site placement. Optional mechanical access platforms are now available, whether assembled in the factory or installed on site, allowing safe access to the mechanical system, water distribution system, and fill and drift water separators. The Marley MD is a CTI certified, fully nominal cooling tower for a wide range of flow and temperature requirements.

The Marley MD has a cooling capacity from 392 kW to 3323 kW.

Marley Aquatower - Crossflow

One of the very first factory-assembled cooling towers ever designed and manufactured. Evolutionary improvements over more than 70 years have made this cooling tower the preferred choice for more than 50,000 installations since 1947! The Aquatower cooling tower has inspired many followers, but only Marley can offer you the original. Due to its compact dimensions, there are no hidden sprinkler systems, small nozzles or sealed basins. All primary parts of the Aquatower cooling tower can be viewed openly, which does not make maintenance any easier.

The Marley Aquatower has a cooling capacity of 35 kW to 554 kW.

Marley AV - Crossflow

Introduction of the AV6800 consisting of 3 models with a single height and 2 models with a double height extending the product tonnage from 390 to 772 tons under standard conditions.

The factory installed Marley AV cooling tower is designed to minimize your costs and maximize the performance of your cooling tower through quick, easy installation and low maintenance costs. The single flow, induced draft crossflow design offers you energy savings in a small installation, making it an excellent cross flow cooling tower replacement for some forced counterflow cooling tower installations.

The Marley AV has a cooling capacity from 550 kW to 3394 kW.

Marley MCW - Counterflow

Factory assembled or installed on site , the Marley MCW steel forced counter-current cooling tower is an ideal solution for sound and space sensitive applications.

Low maintenance

Unlike most forced cooling towers, the Marley MCW cooling tower uses large entrance doors for easy entry and exit. In addition, this configuration provides easy access to the motors and fans.

Silence by design

All Marley MCW cooling towers are designed for low noise levels using centrifugal fans and a fully enclosed water splash zone. In addition, for those applications where noise is more of a concern than usual, consider air intake or exhaust silencing for the ultimate quiet operation of cooling towers.

Long life construction

Robust G235 galvanized steel (G600 in Europe) is standard with S300 stainless steel as an optional upgrade for part or all of the cooling tower structure. ISO certified installations ensure the quality of factory installation.

The Marley MCW has a cooling capacity from 624 kW to 2150 kW.

Marley CP - Counterflow

The Marley CP cooling tower is an induced-draft, counterflow tower uniquely designed for space and sound sensitive applications. It features a stainless steel internal structure and a glass fiber reinforced polyester (FRP) casing that is resistant to corrosion and chemical attack.

A range of heat transfer films is suitable for applications with clean to very dirty water. The Marley CP cooling tower can be fully factory assembled, partially assembled or fully shipped for on-site assembly.

CTI and Eurovent certified

The thermal performance of the Marley CP Cooling Tower has been tested and certified by the Cooling Technology Institute (CTI) and Eurovent.

Operation

The hot water flows via PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or polypropylene pipes to the water tower. Nozzles evenly distribute fine droplets of hot water from above the heat transfer filling. The cooling air is supplied by an axial suction fan. The air absorbs the heat of the water by evaporation and convection.

Heat transfer fills

Clean water applications use PVC or polypropylene film fill packages. Dirty water with a higher suspended solids content requires a clogging or splash proof fill.

Mechanical Equipment

The fan is mounted directly on the gearmotor shaft. The speed of the fan blade is adjustable to the process conditions. The low-noise cooling tower motor can withstand high heat and humidity conditions and is suitable for continuous operation with a variable frequency drive (VFD). Motor and fan are mounted on a hot dip galvanized (HDG) steel (or optional stainless steel) support structure.

Multi-cell configuration

Multi-cell CP cooling towers can be installed inline or back-to-back.

The Marley CP has a cooling capacity of 258 kW to 5878 kW.
